Peter Rodney Kellerman had a unique zest for life. He had the remarkable ability to enjoy everything that was good to its fullest, a trait which was most apparent in his love of music and children.

At an early age, Peter demonstrated his love for music. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a drummer, a dream that came true in high school where he developed his percussion and rhythm skills. Then, while in college in New Orleans, he formed a band, playing the drums at many popular venues. After college, Peter continued to “jam” with friends who shared his love for music.

In 2001, at 35 years old, he decided that he wanted to broaden his musical interests and learn how to play the guitar. He started taking weekly guitar lessons and was both excited and diligent, practicing just about every night. Next, he dreamed of learning to play the violin.

Peter’s other love was children. A child at heart himself, he had a perceivable magic with children. When Pete was around, all kids were smiling. He was a devoted uncle to six nephews, and could not wait to have children of his own.

On September 11, 2001, Peter’s dreams were cut short.

To honor his life’s passions, we developed the PR Kellerman Foundation. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching children's lives by providing them with free private music lessons as well as free instruments.

Peter enjoyed the natural beauty and serenity that the Berkshires offer. It was a special place for him, where he was effortlessly able to mix both of his passions — music and children. It was a place where he was most at home, enjoying time with his family and friends while strumming his guitar. He would have wanted to give something back to the community that he loved so much. This foundation is our way of making his wishes come true.

Help support the foundation. Purchase this commemorative sterling silver guitar pick necklace with the tree of life on the front, and PRK (peter's initials) on the back. It comes with a black or brown suede cord. It can be purchased for $60 with all proceeds going to the foundation. Please email info@prkellermanfoundation.org to order.
